A standardized prejudice measure for young children only appeared by 1975
Evidence
Since 1954, theories of child and adolescent prejudice have beneļ¬ted from extensive research, though only after 1975 was a standardized measure of prejudice used with young children. Allportās theorizing was largely inductive. And he was forced to rely on fewer than 10 child studies, supplemented by anecdotes, to bolster his arguments. Since 1954, theoretical frameworks incorporating Allportās main routes to prejudice have been sharpened and elaborated based on empirical ļ¬ndings. The cognitive revolution put a new twist on almost all of Allportās mechanisms for acquiring prejudice. Since the 1960s, greater emphasis has been placed on how children and adolescents are inļ¬uenced by social input from parents and peers through the ļ¬lters of cognitive maturation and identity. Theories have been tested, but the relative merits of theories in comparison with one another have not been. ā , Rudman, Laurie A - On the Nature ofā¦, 1986
