A single global Islamophobia links geographically disparate struggles in exile
Evidence
It was at once an inspiring and absurd scene. A Muslim American academic sitting between Kashmiris and Uyghurs in exile, discussing the bulldozing of Indian Muslim homes by the Modi regime amid the picturesque backdrop of the Bosporus, landmark mosques in every direction, and minarets that reached high into the Turkish sky. But again, it was real, and a reality stitched together by an Islamophobia that reached into every corner of the globe. Pushing us toward Istanbul for refuge or research, safe haven and service, held together by a commitment to fight for disparate struggles rooted in that global crusade that marked our faith, Islam, as the enemy. β Khaled A.
