Vienna Circle

A group of early 20th-century philosophers and scientists based in Vienna who developed logical positivism (logical empiricism), championing the verification principle that meaningful statements must be empirically verifiable and dismissing metaphysics as meaningless. Members included Moritz Schlick, Otto Neurath, Rudolf Carnap, and others, and their work significantly influenced the analytic philosophy tradition, particularly after many members emigrated to America.
