The Persian (archetype)
A recurring archetype in Western popular culture in which the Persian king (e.g., Xerxes or Darius as depicted in films and media) is portrayed as a monstrous, tyrannical antagonist. This figure is repeatedly recycled in entertainment, and the label “Persian” when applied this way can carry connotations that trigger violence or stigma rather than merely avoidance.
