The Baptist War
The Baptist War (also known as the Christmas Rebellion) was an 1831–1832 slave rebellion in Jamaica led by Samuel Sharpe, notable for beginning as mass passive resistance and a planned slave general strike rather than armed revolt. It was a significant event in the abolition of slavery in the British Empire.
