Tempels’ Bantu Philosophy

A seminal 1945 work by Belgian missionary Placide Tempels titled “Bantu Philosophy” (La philosophie bantoue), which sought to articulate an African (Luba) ontology and metaphysics. Despite its missionary origins and framing as an evangelization strategy responding to Luba resistance, it became a foundational text in the field of African philosophy.
