Talented Tenth
The Talented Tenth was W.E.B. Du Bois’s influential concept arguing that the most educated and accomplished African Americans (roughly the top tenth) should lead and uplift the Black community through intellectual achievement and racial advancement. The doctrine, which blended assimilationist and civilizing ideals, was influenced by thinkers like Alexander Crummell and institutions such as the Negro Academy.
