Spanish Reconquest

The historical period of Christian reconquest of the Iberian Peninsula from Muslim rule (roughly 8th–15th centuries), and specifically a body of historical/polemical writing that framed Islam’s defeat as inevitable and foreordained. The term refers to how contemporary Spanish writers conceived of the Reconquista as a divinely sanctioned, inevitable triumph over Islam.
