First Crusade
The First Crusade (1096–1099) was the initial military expedition launched by Western European Christians, responding to a papal call, to capture Jerusalem and other holy sites in the Levant from Muslim control. It established the crusader states in the region and had significant historical consequences, including changes in Christian relations with Jews.
