Chicago Boys
A group of Chilean economists, many trained at the University of Chicago, who promoted free-market and monetarist policies (austerity, privatization, deregulation) and who advised and implemented economic reform under Augusto Pinochet’s authoritarian regime in Chile. They are central to the history of neoliberalism and Latin American economic policy.
