Worker-controlled land allotments stabilized the S.A.I.S. labour force by 1924.
Evidence
By 1924, however, the system of co-operative ‘collaboration’ by which labourers were established in cultivating settlements within the Society’s lands was extended to all employees and began to prove successful. Each worker was allocated one hectare of land, of which half was for his own use, while the remainder was to be worked by him for the Company at rates which varied according to the yield produced. — I.M.
