Whole Muslim villages rejected forced conversion by attempting collective flight

Evidence

Such emigration of individuals or small groups from places near the sea is a constant feature of this early period and continued sporadically until it merged into the final flood of those who were expelled at the end. The examples just mentioned of whole villages that attempted to transfer themselves to the far shore are a clear indication of the rejection by whole communities of the conversion to Christianity that was being forced upon them. — L.
