White collateral victims of antiblack takings should pursue their own claims, not black reparations
Evidence
One final eligibility concern: Should white people who were caught in the antiblack web be eligible for reparations? Take the white owners of land near Bruce’s Beach who also lost property through the eminent domain process because the state was determined to take the Bruces’ property. They were not targeted because they were white, but because of their proximity to blackness. They should reach out to the State of California and ask it to do the right thing. That does not mean they should be eligible for reparations that are owed to black Americans. — Dorothy A. Brown, Getting to Reparations, 551
