Warhol’s influence outlived his own film production through his celebrity-manufacturing methods

Evidence

Warhol’s cinema was in decline. Although the twenty-four-hour screening of Four Stars (a.k.a. ****) at the Tek in December 1967 was hardly negligible, he had not produced a major film since The Chelsea Girls. Nevertheless, his investigation of the medium as a means of manufacturing celebrity and stimulus to acting out was scarcely lost on other film artists. — J. Hoberman, Everything Is Now, 1261
