Warhol’s first band rehearsed only three or four times before folding
Evidence
3 Warhol had dreams of stardom himself. He made his first foray into pop music in the spring of 1962 as a backup singer, along with Lucas Samaras, in a band with Walter De Maria on drums, La Monte Young on saxophone, and Larry Poons on guitar. Patty Oldenburg sang lyrics penned by Jasper Johns. The project folded after three or four rehearsals. — J. Hoberman, Everything Is Now, 1891
