Validated religious scales fall out easily from high interitem correlations
Evidence
Professor Hunsberger and I composed twenty-eight items, half protrait, half contrait, to measure the conceptualization given above. In the autumn of 1990, over 500 Wilfrid Laurier University students and 235 Manitoba parents responded to these items. As is often true of religion scales, interitem correlations proved high, and a balanced twenty-item Religious Fundamentalism Scale (Exhibit 6.2) appeared almost effortlessly. — Bob Altemeyer, The Authoritarian Specter, 2087
