Until black deaths matter as much as white ones, the movement will not rest.
Evidence
Young people are leading the way. Young men and women, queer and straight, are on the front lines, using Twitter, Facebook, Snapchat, and Vine, and leading this democratic awakening. They are expanding the sentiment Ella Baker voiced so powerfully in 1964: “Until the killing of black men, black mothers’ sons, becomes as important to the rest of the country as the killing of a white mother’s son, we who believe in freedom shall not rest.” They are cutting off the power of patriarchal and homophobic understandings of black communities. All black lives matter. And until the value gap is no more, we will not rest. No one will rest. — Eddie S. Glaude Jr., Democracy in Black, 639
