The Rockefeller Foundation funded a Princeton radio research project with $67,000 in 1937.

Evidence

The two directors in charge of the project were the psychologist Hadley Cantril, who had written a book on the psychology of radio with his well-known colleague, Gordon Allport, some years before, and Frank Stanton, then research director of the Columbia Broadcasting System (CBS). The two of them had written the original draft for the project, for which Princeton University received in 1937 what was, by the standards of the day, a very considerable grant of $67,000 over two years from the Rockefeller Foundation. — Rolf Wiggershaus, The Frankfurt School, 996
