The occupations shifted intellectual debate but produced little institutional change.
Evidence
Interest in questions of political economy and social inequality did blossom in the aftermath of the occupations; tomes such as David Graeber’s Debt (2011) and Thomas Piketty’s Capital in the Twenty-First Century (2013) became global bestsellers, shifting the terms of Western debate. Institutionally, however, little came of it. The park was cleared in mid-November and the movement, deliberately resistant to formalization, gradually dissolved—at least for the time being. — Anton Jäger, Hyperpolitics, 192
