The knowledge-power relationship is circular, not unidirectional as Said held

Evidence

I maintain that the obfuscation of the unique relationship between knowledge and power in modernity is itself a function of the discursive formations and not just intellectual shallowness. In order to better convey the force of this relationship, I begin with a problematic in Said’s conception of it, showing its unidirectionality. I argue that the relationship is not only dialectical, but that this dialectic proceeds in a circular fashion, amounting to what I have called in another context a dialectical wheel. — Wael Hallaq, Restating Orientalism, 33
