The Institute’s planned war-effort book became its National Socialism issue of SPSS

Evidence

The plan to publish the lectures in book form as a contribution by the Institute to the war effort did not work out. Instead, the planned philosophical' issue of SPSS turned into one on National Socialism, containing revised versions of the three lectures by Marcuse, Kirchheimer and Pollock, along with Horkheimer's article on reason and one by Adorno on Veblen’s Attack on Culture’. — Rolf Wiggershaus, The Frankfurt School, 1234
