The end of the subject-object gap reveals a more originary mode of becoming

Evidence

Absolute Knowledge, confirming the identity of substance and subject, introduces a relation between knowing and the known unlike any that has gone before. For this knowledge does not emerge from a new formation of this subject–object gap; instead it arrives in the suspension of that gap. Hence that gap, emerging when the subject separates itself from all its determinations in order to ‘see them coming’ (les voir venir), is neither definitive nor fundamental. Consequently, the end of the gap obviously does not mean the closure of all perspective. On the contrary: this end reveals, in the process of becoming-fluid, a more fundamental mode of occurrence (structure de l’advenir plus originaire) than the rigid and fixed way in which the subject distanced itself from its own determinations, its own accidents. The ‘I think’ – the pure certainty of self – is simply one moment, lasting only for a certain period of time in the deployment of subjectivity itself. — Catherine Malabou, The Future of Hegel, 1081
