The end of the postpolitical era coincided with Houellebecq’s renunciation of novel-writing
Evidence
In early 2022, Houellebecq announced that Annihilation would be his final novel. The culmination of postpolitics thus coincided with the completion of an oeuvre. This invites a retrospective on the era he immortalized in his books, one that is fast receding in the rearview mirror. With its passing, the ground gave way under Houellebecq just as it did for Tillmans. We find ourselves in a world unkind to nostalgists and futurists alike. — Anton Jäger, Hyperpolitics, 87
