Texts surviving from Moriscos were curated to fit their religious priorities
Evidence
The famous historical and geographical compilation entitled Muruj al-dhahab (Meadows of Gold) does exist in one of the Vatican’s Borgiano arabo manuscripts that is one of a group likely to have belonged to Moriscos, but it is noteworthy that the copy omits the general introduction (which contains most of the general historical information), and turns immediately to the life of the Prophet and to the specifically Islamic material that was what the Moriscos will have wanted to read. — L. P. Harvey, Muslims in Spain, 1500 to 1614, 760

- QUESTION: What exactly did the Moriscos cut out of Muruj al-dhahab, and does the pattern of omission reflect active editing or just their own copying choices? Would be worth checking the actual manuscript list.
