Tempels’s Bantu Philosophy enforced a philosophical segregation of African thought

Evidence

Matolino perceives philosophical oppression and racism in Tempels’s study and speaks of Bantustanisation, a term that encompasses the consequences of Tempels’s analysis in making the category of force responsible for how the black person thinks. Tempels effectively condemned the African systems of thought as different, a philosophical homeland which was supposed to be distinct from Western epistemological areas. Matolino criticizes Tempels for eagerly taking up contextual philosophical orientations from Africa but failing to change his style of wording based on a Western conceptual framework and superiority complex. — Frans Dokman, Beyond Bantu Philosophy_…, 1007
