Tablighi Jamaat frames spiritual conflict resolution as a response to transnational hierarchy

Evidence

Miracles and the glorious possibilities of Islam are thus part of a religious discourse that has become an explanatory system. During my stay in Raiwind, I was told many stories that employed the motif of the miraculous, following a pattern of facing conflict in worldly interaction with those who were not on the right path of Islam, followed by a conclusion with inexplicable and, at times, fantastic action. Migrants are often attracted to such forms of religious reasoning, which give order to a√ective registers of alienation and abjection through narratives of resolution and redemption. The Tablighi Jamaat thus is not simply a return to a quietist philosophy of spiritual therapy; it is an active framework that has become central to analyzing transnational systems of social hierarchy and stratification that can be answered through a kind of spiritual conflict resolution. — Junaid Rana, Terrifying Muslims, 628
