Student loan forgiveness must be tax-free and cover parents’ loans to help blacks
Evidence
The apparent solution, according to many progressive politicians, is to forgive all federal student loan debt. Blanket student loan forgiveness would disproportionately benefit black college students—both dropouts and graduates—and I support it, with some conditions. I’d want to make sure the forgiveness itself was tax-free, and not treated as taxable income, and to extend the same relief to debt taken out by parents to finance their children’s education—which is what ultimately happened for the Morehouse Men and their families—because that, too, would disproportionately benefit black parents. — Dorothy A.
