Speech-level dips and impairment type independently affect syllable recognition with no interaction
Evidence
A two-way ANOVA was performed for the dip/constant conditions and the hearing impairment conditions combined, and it showed that the manipulations had a significant effect on recognition performance (ΔSRT) (F (5, 54) = 23.82, p < 0.0001). Significant, separate main effects were also observed for the dip/constant condition and the hearing impairment condition (F (1, 54) = 41.99, p < 0.0001; F (2, 54) = 36.11, p < 0.0001, respectively). The interaction between the two factors was not significant (α= 0.05). — Dijk, Pim van, Physiology, Psychoacoustics and…, 4085

- QUESTION: The non-significant interaction is striking: dip/constant and hearing-impairment effects are additive. Worth chasing whether this holds across other simulated impairments.
