Sparse sampling inserts stimulus presentation into gaps of scanner silence

Evidence

Functional and structural images were acquired with a 3-Tesla MRI system (Siemens MAGNETOM Verio). Functional images were obtained using T2*-weighted gradient echo planar imaging (EPI), with a sparse temporal sampling paradigm to reduce the influence of the acoustic noise created by the scanner (Hall et al. 1999 ). Stimuli were presented in pseudorandomized order during 5 s gaps of scanner silence in between two successive volume acquisitions. — Dijk, Pim van, Physiology, Psychoacoustics and…, 2619 (#corroborates, via linked claim)
