Spanish Muslims’ legal crisis attracted multiple jurisconsult opinions beyond one famous fatwa

Evidence

One result of their discovery, an incidental contribution, but one of some importance, is that the Oran fatwa is no longer an isolated phenomenon, and Ahmad Bu Juma’s was clearly not the only jurisconsult prepared to give consideration to the crisis of conscience that the Muslims of Spain were undergoing. That his had been the only fatwa during this period had seemed surprising. It remains the only such text known actually to have circulated in Spain. — L. P. Harvey, Muslims in Spain, 1500 to 1614, 352
