Spanish Muslims’ final-period literature is neglected by both Christian and Islamic specialists

Evidence

The following chapter traces the Islamic literary productions of Spain’s Muslims in this the final period of their existence. It is a subject that has in fact been well studied by specialists, but it is among a wider readership relatively unfamiliar, even those who are otherwise wellinformed about Spain’s majority Christian culture in this period. It is equally ignored by specialists in the Islamic cultures of the Middle East and North Africa. It deserves our attention. — L. P. Harvey, Muslims in Spain, 1500 to 1614, 589
