Southern white Baptist women shared funding while black women retained full control
Evidence
In 1902 the two groups devised a policy of cooperation, which entailed jointly contributing to the salary and expenses of two black women missionaries on the southern field. The field missionaries were under the sole charge of the Woman’s Convention. They engaged in house-to-house visitation, distributed tracts and other literature, held conferences, and organized affiliate societies of the WC. — Evelyn Brooks Higginbotham, Righteous Discontent, 904
