Social acceleration takes three analytically distinct forms
Evidence
The protagonists see themselves up against not one but three different kinds of acceleration. In the first place, they have to deal with technological acceleration, which, as the story of Kairos illustrates, should have a decelerating effect on the tempo of life when seen from an abstract or purely logical perspective. In fact, however, the acceleration of the tempo of life presents us with a second form of social acceleration that is, in view of technological acceleration, paradoxical and in addition, as the previous consideration of the fisherman-entrepreneur’s dilemma shows, may be connected with a third, analytically independent manifestation of social acceleration: the acceleration of the social and cultural rate of change. — Hartmut Rosa, Social Acceleration, 65
