Sighted evaluations of acoustical rooms are biased by visual distinctiveness

Evidence

Because the design objectives were subjective perceptions, it would be educational to have some binaurally recorded double-blind subjective comparisons of listening experiences in this and other environments. It must be difficult not to be influenced by the dramatically distinctive visual presentation of the room in sighted evaluations. The room definitely raises some interesting psychoacoustic questions and hints at some interesting signal processing developments. Until there are answers, there are opinions. β€” Toole, Floyd E, Sound reproduction- the acoustics and…, 1434
