Shermarke’s assassin acted alone over a stolen parliamentary seat
Evidence
The policeman was tortured by the authorities to find out who else was behind the assassination. But he remained adamant that he had acted alone and because of his community’s grievances regarding the stealing of a parliamentary seat by the SYL in the northeast of the country. The killer was taken to the National Security Court after the military coup, where he showed his genitals to the court to display the severity of his torture. He remained adamant that he acted alone and was sentenced to death. — Abdi Ismail Samatar, Africa’s First Democrats, 1507
