Seventeenth-century London broadsheets depicted Africans alongside multi-headed birth monsters.
Evidence
Stories of monstrous births and of demons, hairy beasts, and multi-headed creatures, often connected to the presence of Africans, abounded in the popular press in newspapers and broadsheets in London and other cities. A 1605 pamphlet titled Strange News claims a number of strange and grotesque births; an African is depicted alongside a four-headed monster and a skeletal beast. This is by no means the only report of an African monster born alongside other monsters. — Sophia Rose Arjana, Muslims in the Western Imagination, 310
