Religious disengagement doubled from boomers to their children.

Evidence

By the late 1990s, when the boomers’ children were filling out that same questionnaire, this same index of complete disengagement from organized religion had doubled to 18 percent. Similarly, the fraction of college freshmen who avowed “none” as their religious preference doubled from 7 percent in 1966 to 14 percent in 1997. — Robert D.
