Prosecutors systematically strike Black jurors whom they perceive as distrusting police.
Evidence
The primary method that attorneys use to remove minority jurors from serving on juries is via peremptory challenges. Prosecutors are far more likely to exclude Black venire members than are defense attorneys (Baldus, et al., 2001; Rose, 1999). A training tape for prosecutors revealed that minority jurors were seen as “bad jurors” in criminal cases based on their distrust of the police and political institutions (Baldus et al., 2001). — Joseph Avery, Jim Sidanius, Joel Cooper, Gregory Davis, Amanda N., Bias in the Law, 881
