Privileged anti-racism activists weaponize their own privilege against the system
Evidence
Anger at the system or the government for racial inequality is a basis for action for many activists who are members of privileged groups. Tim Wise, a European-American anti-racism activist says, “My job is to do everything in my power to resist collaborating with what I consider a truly evil system – nothing more, nothing less. It’s really about using my White (and male) privilege – as a weapon against the very system that bestows the privileges to begin with” (Brasel, 1999, p. 1). — Nyla R. Branscombe and Bertjan Doosje (eds.), Collective Guilt, 1868
