President-society motive congruence is measured as reversed summed discrepancy scores.
Evidence
To determine the extent of congruence between a president and American society at the time of his election, the absolute values of the discrepancies between presidential score and society score for each motive were summed to yield a total discrepancy score. With sign reversed, this was used as a measure of president-society motive congruence. — John T. Jost and Jim Sidanius, Political Psychology, 1340
