Predestination beliefs could be attacked as contradicting God’s justice
Evidence
It seemed to the Christian disputant that experience of controversy proved the usefulness of a logical quandary which might be set to trap a Muslim: challenged to say whether Heaven was reward of goodness, and pain the punishment of sin, he must either agree, and contradict Muhammad, or else assert the doctrine of God’s writing the fate of the soul in advance. In that case he might be refuted by Scripture, by arguments from natural reason (‘which anyone may find for himself’) and by arguments from Muhammad’s own contradictory sayings. — Norman Daniel, Islam and the West, 879
