Postwar Italy’s former colonies were disposed of by the four great powers

Evidence

The Treaty of Peace with Italy provided for the disposal of the former Italian colonies of Somalia, Eritrea, and Libya. How they were to be disposed of was to be determined by an agreement between the governments of the United Kingdom, United States, USSR, and France. The treaty also stipulated that if the four powers failed to agree, then they would refer the matter to the UN General Assembly for recommendation. The four powers set up a commission of investigation that would visit the countries and submit its findings. — Abdi Ismail Samatar, Africa’s First Democrats, 1208
