Political events isolated German social research from the field’s international growth.

Evidence

Social research, in all its aspects, and particularly in the areas of research on the structure of society, on human relationships and modes of behaviour within the labour process, of opinion research and the practical application of sociological and psychological knowledge in the last few decades, has received a great boost. Owing to political events, Germany has not been able to participate in this to the extent that might have been desired. — Rolf Wiggershaus, The Frankfurt School, 456
