Political action requires multiple distinct leaps of will beyond feeling injustice

Evidence

Political struggle does not happen automatically. When human beings experience injustice, a surge of will and energy is required to make the jump to doing something about it; and it is another set of leaps entirely from making that choice to standing up, going outside, and taking a particular set of actions. The steps taken are the result, I believe, of drawing upon a range of things that have been seen or done before in one’s own country—or, increasingly, somewhere else in the world, witnessed perhaps on the internet. — Vincent Bevins, If We Burn, 48
