Police enforcement removed government vehicles from streets after working hours

Evidence

In addition to respecting working hours, the new order demanded that government transport be used as was intended, only during working hours and in emergencies. The police were authorized to stop and inspect any government vehicle operating in nonworking hours to see if it had a permit to be on the road. As a result of this initiative, government transport in the major towns of the country disappeared from the streets after work hours, and this had the immediate effect on public opinion that the new regime was a breed apart from the old one. — Abdi Ismail Samatar, Africa’s First Democrats, 824
