Polemics charged Muhammad with leading Muslim sages to deny bodily resurrection

Evidence

For he led the Saracen wise men into error, so that they do not believe in the resurrection of bodies as it is portrayed in the Koran. For there it says that after resurrection they will have bodily delights, such as delight in food, drink, and sex. These things, if they indeed existed in the next life, would prevent the intellect from contemplating and delighting in the Supreme Good. Therefore, since they could see that this is improper (as in fact it is), they denied the resurrection of bodies, placing man’s beatitude in the soul, not understanding that the human body could live without food. — John V. Tolan, Saracens, 1211
