Placing all string damping at terminations yields efficient digital synthesis
Evidence
When the transversal vibration arrives at the rigid end point of the line, in the ideal condition, it is fully reflected and the transversal polarity of vibration is changed. β¦ In Figure 6.6, all of the damping is modelled as occurring at the ends, and the string itself is thought to be lossless. This allows the implementation of a computationally very effective method of synthesis. The excitation is brought to both lines, and the response of the string is captured from another position on the lines. The position may, for example, correspond to the position of the pick-up of an electric guitar or the bridge of an acoustic guitar. β Ville Pulkki, Matti Karjalainen, Communication Acoustics- Anβ¦, 696
