Perceived duration of pauses differs from perceived duration of equivalent tone bursts
Evidence
This finding is somewhat astonishing; however, the results produced by comparing subjective durations produced by pauses with those produced by tone bursts are even more surprising. In this case, the method of comparison is used and pauses are changed to sound as long as tone bursts, and vice versa. — Professor Dr.-Ing. Hugo Fastl, Professor Dr.-Ing. - QUESTION: The paragraph cuts off before giving the actual plotted results — worth chasing the direction of the effect (do pauses sound longer or shorter than bursts?).
