Over 32,000 expelled Moriscos sailed to Oran in the opening weeks

Evidence

In the very north of Valencia (Vinaroz in modern Castell´on) the commandant of the whole seaborne operation, Pedro de Toledo, was assembling contingents who had had a long hard march inflicted on them before they could reach the allotted point of embarkation. On October 14, 3,300 more refugees were brought to Oran, and smaller groups of ships soon arrived with 2,500 more. Meanwhile, privately owned ships were also operating alone or in convoys, so that by October 20, 32,000 people had been transported. This part of the expulsion, in merchant ships and largely based on the port (Grao) of Valencia, continued throughout. — L. P. Harvey, Muslims in Spain, 1500 to 1614, 1464
