Oruka’s popular-didactic wisdom distinction is fluid, not fixed.
Evidence
According to Oruka, the distinction between popular and didactic wisdom is not cast iron but plastic, as it fluctuates (Oruka, 1991, p. 33, my emphasis) between the two poles. This means that there are folk sages who can be philosophic sages and vice versa. This is because the area between wisdom and non-wisdom sometimes overlaps (Oruka, 1991, p. 64). — Frans Dokman, Beyond Bantu Philosophy_…, 589
